On November 4, Mainers will vote on two different ballot questions. Question 1 will ask if voters want to enact sweeping changes to Maine’s election laws. The League of Women Voters of Maine opposes Question 1 because it is a form of voter suppression. Learn more about Question 1 here.

Purpose of this workshop:

The Save Maine Absentee Voting campaign is leading the effort against Question 1. One key way to reach Mainers is through local newspapers. We need to inform our communities about Question 1 so that everyone understands what's at stake. Voting rights, and absentee voting, are on the line. The purpose of this workshop is to guide you through the Letter to the Editor (LTE) writing process. 

You will learn:

• How to write a LTE on Question 1
• How to submit to your local paper
• How to encourage others to write LTEs
